Clinical and Financial Strategies for the Extended Care Professional

Executive Desk:

Effective Leaders are Effective Managers, Too

Why is it that no one aspires to be a good manager these days? While good leaders are essential for galvanizing people and moving organizations forward, managers are not any less important. Managers have to get things done through others. The manager is supposed to plan, organize, coordinate, and control.

HARTMANN-CONCO Inc. was created when P. HARTMANN AG purchased Conco Medical Company effective January 1, 2001.

HARTMANN-CONCO Inc. is headquartered in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and manufactures and markets a line of adhesive bandages, splints, reinforced elastic bandages, gauze bandages, self-adherent bandages, latex-free bandages, and compression bandages for a variety of applications. Products are used in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and veterinary applications as well as in the sports medicine field. HARTMANN-CONCO manufactures bandages under company brand names and private label.

In anticipation of the purchase of Conco Medical Company by HARTMANN, a plan to launch many of HARTMANN's wound care products was initiated late last year. At press time, Omnifix®, AquaCare® and AquaCare Plus, and Cosmopore® have been launched, and plans are in place to launch several additional wound dressing products before year end.

HARTMANN-CONCO products are sold through all major distributors in the United States, and the line is supported by a direct sales force along with agents in areas not yet covered by our direct sales force. The plan is to expand the number of direct representatives over the next few years.
