Clinical and Financial Strategies for the Extended Care Professional

Executive Desk:

Effective Leaders are Effective Managers, Too

Barbara Rubel, MA, BCETS, CBS
This past June, Barbara Rubel, MA, BCETS, CBS had the honor of presenting the General Session at the 2007 NADONA/LTC National Conference in Las Vegas. The purpose of the session was to describe compassion fatigue and prepare nurses to be resilient. The objectives were to have the participants compare burnout and compassion fatigue, learn positive coping strategies to prevent compassion fatigue, and identify ways to develop resiliency. The hope was that by the end of the program, those in attendance would build skills necessary to ensure balance and self-care as they provide compassionate care.
